Two jobs, not one
The obvious one is height — ceilings, high wall linings, the top of a stairwell after a roof leak. The one that gets used more is the floor. Surveying a slab means taking readings on a grid, and on a large floor that is a great many readings taken on your knees. The handle lets the meter be walked across the floor at standing height, which is the difference between a survey that gets done properly and one that gets sampled thinly because the job is uncomfortable.
On the Bluetooth-equipped 5-series meters, the Tramex Meters app can mirror the meter screen on your phone, so you can read the meter while it is on the end of the handle.
