The Delmhorst Navigator Pro is a 3-in-1 moisture meter for building inspectors, water damage technicians and flooring contractors: pin mode, pinless scan mode and a thermo-hygrometer. What sets it apart from the rest of the range is how it organises what you find.
Readings are structured by job and room. Up to five jobs with unique job IDs, up to 32 rooms per job, and 1,400 stored readings stamped with date, time, room and location. Downloaded to a PC, they become an Excel report showing a structure drying over time rather than a list of numbers.
It reads moisture in drywall, insulation, timber, concrete and plaster, and is used to trace leaks and locate dry rot.

There are two operating modes. Basic Mode simplifies the menus for straightforward work; Enhanced Mode opens the job and room structure. Most users start in Basic and move across once they are documenting jobs.
Relative humidity and ASTM F-2170
The Navigator Pro conforms to ASTM F-2170, the in-situ relative humidity test for concrete slabs, and the manual includes a dedicated procedure for it. The RH/T-S3 sensor is required.
This Basic Package comes with the RH/T-S1 ambient sensor, which reads air temperature and humidity for drying records and psychrometrics. For slab testing you also need the RH/T-S3 in-situ sensor, sold separately and able to be added at any time.
The distinction matters. A pin or scan reading tells you about moisture at or near the surface. In-situ RH tells you what the slab will do once a floor covering traps the moisture in it — and that is the figure flooring manufacturers write their requirements against.
Choosing between the Delmhorst multi-mode meters
Four meters cover this ground. They differ on three things: how many measurement modes they have, whether they store and export readings, and whether they measure relative humidity.
| Meter |
Modes |
Stores readings |
Suits |
| TechCheck Plus |
Pin and scan |
No |
Two-mode work without RH. Freezes a reading taken out of sight. |
| QuickNav |
Pin, scan, RH |
No |
Full 3-in-1 capability where you record readings in your own report. |
| TotalCheck |
Pin, scan, RH |
Up to 1,400 with date and time stamp |
Documented moisture records, job groupings, PC download. |
| Navigator Pro |
Pin, scan, RH |
Yes, with job and room structure |
Inspections and drying jobs needing readings organised by room and exported. |
The honest short version. If you do not need to store and download readings, the QuickNav does the same measuring as the Navigator Pro for considerably less — Delmhorst say so themselves. If your work is insurance-backed, or you hand over inspection or drying records, storage stops being a luxury and the TotalCheck or Navigator Pro earns the difference.
All four take the same external electrodes, so a 21-E or 26-ES bought with one meter carries across to the next.
Frequently asked questions
What does 3-in-1 actually mean?
Pin mode for a moisture content figure at a known depth, scan mode for finding moisture without marking the surface, and a thermo-hygrometer for air temperature and relative humidity. Three instruments in one body, so you are not carrying three.
Do I need storage?
Only if you have to prove what you found. For building reports, insurance and warranty work, a dated set of readings organised by room is what supports your findings. On maintenance work where you act on the reading and move on, storage is something you are paying for and not using.
Can I add electrodes later?
Yes. Every current Delmhorst meter accepts every Delmhorst electrode. The 21-E reads inside wall cavities and the 26-ES drives into timber flooring with insulated pins.
Is scan mode a moisture content reading?
No. Scan mode gives a 0 to 300 relative reference, not a percentage. Use it to find where the moisture is, then pin the area for a figure you can defend.
Who supports the meter in Australia?
We do. The Moisture Meter Company (Aberford Holdings Pty Ltd) is the exclusive Australian distributor for Delmhorst non-agricultural moisture meters, and handles service, calibration questions and warranty claims here rather than sending them overseas.
Support and warranty
One year warranty on manufacturing defects (owner's manual). This does not exclude, restrict or modify your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
What we see in the field
Pinless is brilliant for narrowing down the search. It can also react to metal and differences in construction. Find a dry comparison first. Then use the right follow-up test before you tell the customer you've found wet material.
