The Delmhorst JLX-30 is a leather moisture meter calibrated from 10% to 28% moisture content, for tanneries, leather goods and furniture manufacturers, upholsterers and saddlers. It replaces the JL-2000 and moves the leather range onto the current Delmhorst platform — the same meter body, display and app as the BDX-30 and JX-30, calibrated for leather.
Leather is measured in a narrow band, and getting it wrong means cracking, stiffness, mould and rejected batches. A meter calibrated for timber will show a number on leather, but not one with a defensible relationship to actual moisture content.
What is in this package
- JLX-30 meter
- 324CAS-0111 hard carrying case
Supplied as JLX-30W/CS. The 324CAS-0111 case is the one used across the current Delmhorst 30-series, so it takes the same inserts and accessories.

What the EDGE app adds
Each reading carries a timestamp and geotag and exports to CSV. For a tannery or manufacturer keeping batch records, spot checks become a traceable moisture history instead of figures on a clipboard. Download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play.
Frequently asked questions
What happened to the JL-2000?
The JLX-30 supersedes it, and the JL-2000 is no longer available. A JL-2000 still in service keeps working, and we can still supply electrodes and pins for it — contact us with what you need and we will confirm the correct part before you order.
Why not use a wood moisture meter?
Calibration. Resistance-to-moisture behaviour differs by material, so a wood scale applied to leather gives a reading with no reliable relationship to moisture content. On a commercial batch, that is not a number you can act on.
Is 10% to 28% the right range?
It is the working band for finished and part-processed leather. Outside it you are generally either into wet-blue territory or dealing with material already too dry to work.
Can I use my existing electrodes?
Yes. The JLX-30 takes any Delmhorst external electrode, so probes from an earlier meter carry across.
Support and warranty
The Moisture Meter Company (Aberford Holdings Pty Ltd) is the exclusive Australian distributor for Delmhorst non-agricultural moisture meters. Service, calibration questions and warranty claims are handled here rather than sent overseas.
Two year warranty on manufacturing defects. This does not exclude, restrict or modify your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the ACL. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.
What we see in the field
Leather isn't timber. That's the first thing to get straight. Keep your test positions consistent and, on a valuable hide or finished item, agree on a discreet place for the pins. Nobody wants a row of test marks across the good side.
Documents
Delmhorst have not published an owner’s manual for the JLX-30 — the brochure above is the current literature. Operation follows the same pattern as the rest of the 30-series, and we can talk you through it.
Not sure which meter or electrode suits your material? Tell us what you are testing — hides, finished leather, upholstery, leather goods — and we will recommend what you need. See the full range in Delmhorst Moisture Meters.
