The Tramex BSMK5.1 Building Survey Master Kit is built for building surveyors, inspectors and mould and leak investigators. It finds moisture deep in wall and roofing systems, measures it in individual materials, and records the humidity and surface temperature that show whether conditions favour condensation and microbial growth.
Damp conditions are often hidden within or behind a material such as plasterboard and are not obvious on a visual inspection. Locating them, and the moisture source behind them, is the first step to fixing the building.
The RWS Roof and Wall Scanner gives instant, non-destructive evaluation of moisture deep within wall and roofing systems. The digital MRH III tests moisture conditions non-invasively in plasterboard, wood, plaster, brick, ceramic tiles, resilient flooring, laminates and roofing, and with the RH short probe measures relative humidity, temperature and dew point. Used with the infrared thermometer, that identifies condensation conditions conducive to microbial growth. The heavy-duty pin probe measures moisture content in wood, and the 200 mm insulated pins reach into wall cavities.
Concrete slab RH testing to ASTM F2170 is also possible with Hygro-i2 probes and hole liners, which are optional extras.
Important – this kit uses the MRH III generation
The BSMK5.1 is built around the MRH III meter, which uses the DIN accessory connector – not the bayonet connector used by the current CMEX5, MEX5 and DL-RHTX. Any RH probes or interface cables added to this kit must be the DIN versions, such as the RHIE2 cable and the AP-F2170 accessory pack.
If you are buying into the Tramex system now rather than adding to an existing MRH III setup, check with us first – the current-generation kits are built on different instruments and the accessories are not interchangeable.
Specifications

Depth of penetration
100 mm
Sensitivity
Four ranges: roofing mode high and low; EIFS / foam roof insulation mode high and low
Why does this kit use DIN accessories when other kits use bayonet?
Tramex changed the accessory connector between meter generations. The MRH III predates that change. It is a capable instrument, but its probes will not fit a CMEX5 or MEX5 and vice versa – which matters if you already own 5-series accessories or expect to buy them later.
Can I run an ASTM F2170 slab test with this kit?
Not as supplied. The MRH III accepts Hygro-i2 probes, but they are optional. Add the DIN AP-F2170 accessory pack for a complete test set.
Do the RWS readings replace pin readings?
No. The RWS scans large areas of roof and wall quickly to find where moisture is. Pin readings with the insulated pins then confirm moisture content at specific points and depths.
